AlphaSense MCP Connector

Beta feature

This feature is in beta. Your AlphaSense account team must enable it on your account before you can use the connector.

The AlphaSense MCP connector makes AlphaSense available directly inside your MCP-capable chat client. Ask a question in your normal conversation and it answers from AlphaSense, with citations and links back to the sources.

Before you start

You need an active AlphaSense subscription and an MCP-capable chat client. AlphaSense is not a built-in connector — an administrator has to add it as a custom connector for your organization first. See the admin setup guide.

What you can retrieve matches your existing AlphaSense entitlements, with one exception: Broker Research. See Limits.

The two tools

Your client picks the right tool based on your question.

ToolThe client uses it when
alphasense_searchThe default. Use for anything that doesn't name specific content, and for anything about broker research or analyst views (see Limits for what broker questions return).
alphasense_search_specificYour question names the content it wants — a filing, earnings transcript, expert call, or news.

Both return an answer with inline citations, a Sources list, and a link to open the conversation on AlphaSense. Follow-up questions continue the same conversation, so you can ask "what about the prior quarter?" without repeating yourself.

Example prompts

What are experts from AlphaSense saying about margin pressure for European luxury retailers?

Summarize what NVIDIA said about data center demand on its most recent earnings call.

And how did that compare with the prior quarter?

Be specific, and say what kind of content to access to help AlphaSense create the most targeted request.

Limits

Results are bounded by AlphaSense coverage — the connector does not include web search at the moment. Answers are built on our Generative Search, always click through for the citations to validate numbers.

Entitlements. The connector honors your AlphaSense entitlements: if you can open something on the platform, the connector can retrieve it. Broker Research is the one exception — full broker content is not available through the connector. When a broker perspective exists, the response includes an extra link that opens that search in AlphaSense and a disclaimer.

Troubleshooting

AlphaSense isn't listed, or is listed but returns nothing. If you can see it in your client's connector settings, you probably still need to connect it: find AlphaSense, click Connect, and sign in. That one-time step is the most common reason the connector looks missing or comes back empty. Check too that it's switched on for the conversation you're in — most clients let you toggle connectors per conversation. If it isn't listed at all, your administrator hasn't added it yet; point them at the admin setup guide.

No results, or thinner results than expected. For most content the connector matches your AlphaSense entitlements — if you can't open it on the platform, the connector can't either. Broker Research is the exception: follow the link in the response to view the full Broker's Perspective.

Source links don't open. They require an active AlphaSense session. Sign in and try again.
